US Citizen!

Hello! Yesterday was a big day for the Barnes'. We drove down to Sarasota and Jaejin's adoption was finalized. He is now legally ours and a US citizen. The visit in front of the judge was quick. We were sworn in and then had to answer about 10 questions regarding understanding our responsabilities as parents, etc. Jaejin would not hold still during the questioning but was thrilled once the flag was draqged over for pictures with Judge Titus. We ventured to an awesome Italian place for lunch afterwards. Jaejin will now have a social security number.

I will be 35 weeks pregnant tomorrow. One week ago Monday I had a bleeding incident which led me to a visit with my doctors. The exam revealed a soft cervix and the baby is head down face down ready for delivery. I also had an ultrasound which showed a thinned/short cervix...also a sign of labor will soon start. The midwife I see consulted with the doctor and they want me to take it easy until my 36th week to prevent me from going into early labor. I am also "borderline" diabetic and have been put on a strict diabetic diet until delivery. Since my due date is close they didn't want to have to put me on medicine or anything. So far the diet is working and no sugar is showing up in my urine. I have to admit though I am not following it like I should and it will be hard not to indulge at Thanksgiving.

I had a check up yesterday and so far things are looking good. It sounds like I will go earlier than my due date with the way the midwife was talking. Again, she wants me to get to 36 weeks. Personally, with my luck I will either go earlier than that or past my due date.

Hope everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving! Who knows...the next blog may be from the hospital.
